Attributes Part 1

My name is Nut. You can call me Nwt, Nuit, Newet, or Neuth. I am the Egyptian goddess of the sky.

I am frequently portrayed as a woman stretching out across the sky with my hands and feet anchored to the earth, which makes me seem tall, and sometimes I am portrayed as a cow. My skin is varying shades of blue, and I am covered with starry markings.

My parents were the wind god, Shu, and his sister Tefnut. I have five important children: Osiris, Seth, Isis, Horus, and Nephthys. Geb, the god of the earth, is my brother and also my love.

I give birth to the sun every morning. I am a mother figure, and am frequently painted on the insides of sarcophagi to protect the dead and accompany them to the afterlife

Once, when I was carrying the sun god, Ra, high into the sky, my arms and legs became tired. As a result, eight He gods were created to help support me.

  1. You sound very accomplished! I also was the creator of the sky and stars. You do a very nice job of describing yourself in detail. I would like to hear more about your strengths and weaknesses though.
